Homicide

             On April 18, 2025, just after 2:30 AM, Officers of the Pine Bluff Police Department responded to an apartment complex at 2600 W. 30th to assist the EASi ambulance service with an unresponsive male. When officers arrived, they located a male lying at the top of a staircase in the center of the apartment building. The officers and EASi personnel located apparent gunshot wounds on the male's body. He was later pronounced dead at the scene by a deputy of the Jefferson County Coroner's Office. The victim was later identified as 26-year-old Asa Stewart.
     It is early in the investigation at the time of this release. The circumstances leading up to this murder are under still being determined and there is no suspect information to release at the time of this press release.
