On July 12, 2024, just before 2:00 AM, Officers of the Pine Bluff Police Department responded to a reported gunshots in the area of 23rd Ave. and Hazel St. A short time later a report of a person having been shot at 23rd Ave. and Spruce St. was dispatched. They located a male, later identified as 30-year-old Jaelin Scott, lying in the street on Spruce just North of 23rdAve. Scott had suffered an apparent gunshot and was unresponsive. He was pronounced dead at the scene by the Jefferson County Coroner.
Witness stated that Scott and another male named Devantre Daniels were arguing. At some point Scott was shot, and Daniels fled the scene in his vehicle. Officers began searching for Daniels and located his vehicle at a residence. He was taken into custody without incident and transported to the Detective office to be interviewed. He was then taken to the Jefferson County jail and booked for 1st Degree Murder.
