Just before 1:00 A.M. on March 21, 2024, Officers of the Pine Bluff Police department responded to the area of 27th and Ash for gunshots in the area. Shortly after the gunshots call, another call was received for a person who had been shot at 2702 S. Ash. Officers arrived at 2702 S. Ash where they located 43-year-old Willy Purifoy inside the residence. Purifoy had suffered apparent gunshot wounds and was unresponsive. He was later pronounced dead at the scene by the Jefferson County Coroner.

                Persons of interest in this homicide are being interviewed at the time of this release. No one has been arrested for the homicide at this point. This homicide is in the early stages of the investigation and there is no suspect information to be released at this time.
